Sell With Mt. Mccoy

We can help you consign your collection or buy it outright. Find out more about our process below.

Why sell with Us?

At Mt. McCoy Auctions, we turn your firearms and collectibles into cash. Whether you want to sell your collection to us or consign your items at auction, our goal is to provide you the most money possible for your items, while aiming for the highest overall customer satisfaction. We want this process to remain stress-free and painless for you. We take care of all the work, the online marketing, and the legal compliance; all you need to do is contact us to schedule a pickup or drop off of your collection, and await your proceeds.

the Process

We receive firearm collections from individuals all across the United States.  Sellers are welcome to bring their collection or individual items into our Simi Valley location. We also travel consistently though out the west coast where we will pick up firearms, ammo and accessories to transport back to our office.  In some circumstances it makes the most sense to have our consigners ship their items to us - if that’s the case we work with our consigners to make the process quick and easy.

Learn more about our process in a few simple steps below

  • 1. Appraisal

Our process begins with you contacting us to schedule a dropoff of your merchandise, or a pickup at your location. We will provide you an auction appraisal based on recent sales of similar items or an offer to purchase everything outright. Your items will be carefully packed and itemized on a receipt along with a estimate listing/payment date.

  • 2. Inventory

The next step in our process is to receive the firearms into our inventory where we record makes, models, serial numbers, and calibers.

All firearms are tagged with an identification tag and barcode that allows us to easily track a consigner's firearms for the entire time the gun is in our care.  In these early stages of the process, we also perform all of our required federal and state compliance paperwork.

  • 3. Research

Next up is the auction research and description process. It is at this time that one of our inventory specialists will deliver firearms to one of our many experienced and knowledgeable firearms historians. Based on our size, we have the ability to have a team with unique specialties in various firearms classifications and manufacturers.  This is one of the key components that allows us to differentiate ourselves from the competition.

  • 4. Photography

Our team of expert photographers prepare a detailed catalog of photographs covering all aspects of each individual firearm.  We actually produce two sets of photographs – our standard photographs that are displayed with our auction descriptions on GunBroker as well as a high resolution set of photographs that can be accessed for every firearm we sell. These high resolutions photographs are stored outside of GunBroker with a link provided in the auction description.

  • 5. Auction

As the day approaches for the firearms to be auctioned the customer service team provides our consigners with early access to their firearm listings.  We run auctions every two weeks and our auctions run for a two-week duration. Throughout the auction process we promote our wide range of items to collectors throughout the entire country. Our eclectic mix of firearms that ranges from modern guns all the way back from before the turn of the century help to bring in a diverse set of buyers.

  • 6. Get Paid

After an auction is complete our buyers are given options to either complete their firearm transfer locally at our shop or to have it shipped to a dealer of their choice. Our shipping department packs and labels each item within 48 hours of receiving confirmed payment and the required licensing.

Then as the consignor you get paid!
